Are you building positive momentum???

A few weeks ago I took the kids on a bike ride at Kensington.  I decided to put the girls in the bike trailer not realizing right away that it would be an extra weight of one hundred pounds!  I know you are probably thinking… Andy you are in the prime of your life, in tiptop shape this seems so easy for you.  Well it wasn’t that easy… it was actually tough…my quadriceps felt it the next day. I yelled something at my kids while I was biking…(Don’t worry it wasn’t bad) I yelled, “Get out of my way…I can’t waste this momentum.”   Going down hill with an extra hundred pounds was awesome!  But I needed all the momentum I could get to make it up the slightest incline!

There is power in momentum!  No matter how big or small there is power in momentum.  The things you do for Jesus create momentum, the habits you form in your spiritual life create momentum.   We cannot waste our momentum!

Sometimes when it comes to our faith we can get stuck and we can actually come to a stop. This is dangerous for a lot of different reasons but one fact we know is that if you are not moving you do not have momentum.  I want to encourage the person who is reading this that is having a difficult time reading and staying in the Bible… you are creating momentum and it will begin to build.  Or the person who wants to stop praying because you haven’t gotten an answer… you are creating momentum don’t give it up God hears you and cares about you.

What Paul says to the Philippians (Philippians 3:10-14) is what we need to hear too… he says;  “I want to know Christ; I want to be like Christ so I PRESS ON toward the goal…”  he keeps moving using his momentum for what’s next.  It’s simple but powerful!

Don’t underestimate the things you do for Jesus, the things you do to know Him more no matter how big or small… its creating momentum!  As a church we can create some serious momentum… lets use that to impact our neighborhoods and work places so people know JESUS!
