How to live a pure life

Paul writes to Timothy and encourages and challenges him in a lot of ways because he is young and in ministry. I really think a lot of what Paul writes we can take as a challenge as well. In chapter 4 he says;   “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, BUT be an example for the believers in what you say, how you act, your love, your faith, AND in purity.”

We just started our sex, dating and relationship series called 'Swipe Right' in FUSE. We are putting a big emphasis on purity (Shocking, I know!) and how we can begin to take steps toward purity every day. This is not a new problem, it's been around for a while. Paul says to Timothy… be an example in purity, that’s quite the task. Paul isn’t just saying pick one area of your life and try to be pure he is saying your life…that’s every aspect of your life. And in Psalm 119:9 the writer gives us some help, he writes- "How can a young person live a pure life? By obeying Your Word."

The answer to purity is summed up here by one thing… The Bible!

You might say this is only for “young” people… REALLY only young people struggle with being pure? Haha stop the crazy talk right now. We know it’s a struggle for all of us. Just look at music for example… take a look at the top ten songs on iTunes right now, look up the lyrics.

So I want to encourage you to get in the Bible, make it a habit, make it a routine, make it something you want to do, make it fun, but MAKE IT HAPPEN. Just read it! Read a couple verses, or go through a book, use the Bible app it has a TON of reading plans to choose from, read with a friend, be creative and get after it.

This world needs us to be a GOOD example of how to live a pure life and the Bible gives us the best direction and help!

If you don’t know, now you know!
