"Daily Bread"

Growing up we learn that our bodies require nourishment each day in order for it to be healthy.   Our bodies need vitamins and nutrients to maintain health.  Have you ever noticed the small booklet titled “Daily Bread” located on the back of the pews?  I like the title ‘Daily Bread’ because it reminds me that in addition to food, we also need God and His Word to maintain good spiritual health.

The Daily Bread booklet provides for a wonderful way to spend additional time in God’s Word each day.  I often read it when I’m starting my Bible reading as a way to set my heart and mind on God and not the distractions of the day.  The Daily Bread App assures that I can read it anywhere and anytime.  I know this sounds like a commercial and in some ways it is.  But, my desire is that it encourages you to take a look at it and maybe read it along with your daily Bible reading.

We all grew up with commercial slogans that stick with us today:  “Wheaties the breakfast of champions, Wendy’s -   “Where’s the beef?”, or  “I don’t want to grow up, I’m a Toys R Us Kid.”  Do you know the Daily Bread slogan?  It is “Love God, Love Others.”  I also like their mission statement:  “Make the life-changing wisdom of the Bible understandable and accessible to all.”

I encourage you today and everyday to make God, and His Word, a priority in your life.  Seek out His will for your life.  I will end with a closing that I sometimes use when signing letters or emails and I do it to show that God’s in control of my life.

“In His Grip,”

Tracy
