Jimmy Kimmel likes to play pranks on people and last year he asked parents to give their kids a Christmas present a week early and record them opening it. The catch was the gift had to be terrible! Some kids were SO excited… then they opened their present to find a half eaten sandwich or an invisible fence for their dog and other completely ridiculous gifts. Jimmy then showed the videos of the kid’s reactions and it was priceless to see how upset they were and how crazy they reacted!
It is hard for me to think of the worst Christmas present I have ever gotten…but I can remember the best ones! One year I got a Sega Genesis from my now sister (in-law), it was amazing!! I remember it like it was yesterday.
I know that Christmas is not all about the gifts...but it is really nice to get a good gift isn’t it (don’t lie, you are in church)?
I LOVE that God is a God that gives us good gifts … in James 1:17 the Bible says…

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadow."

God only gives us good and perfect gifts! That is an awesome promise we can hang on to all through out the year. God knows what we need and He knows when we need it, we need to trust that God has everything under control (which He does). Even this time of year when things are really crazy busy and you are running around non-stop, entertaining, shopping, baking, making, wrapping, planning, stressing and spending the dollar bills! God still knows what we need…and He only gives us His best!

Gods best, is better than any one else’s best will ever be!!

So when you are with your family and friends this Christmas take some time and thank God that He gives us good and perfect gifts! God gives us His best! And He starts off the gift giving with His Son…JESUS!
