I was thinking….

As most of you know I have been blessed with the responsibility to manage an organization that provides food to disaster relief.  I do this with the help of many volunteers that are from many walks of life.  Different ethnicities, different backgrounds and different religions.  When these volunteers work together to feed the people that are in need, it is mind blowing to think that 10, 50 or 100 thousand meals can be produced in a few hours.

When volunteers first hear the amount of food that is going to be packaged the first thought is “no way.”  I have heard people that are new to the process say that we will never package all that food today.  Usually in the crowd of volunteers there is always one or two people in the assembly that say “yes we will” you just wait and see.  These volunteers are my unifiers, the ones that that have been through the process and have faith in the system.

We have all been in a position either at work, home and even in the community where we could either be a uniter or a divider.  We are called to be responsible and to pursue unity with diligence. (Ephesians 4:3-6) Spiritual unity should be the norm when members live under the control of the Holy Spirit.  Therefore, it is a very serious matter to cause division among God’s people.  Spiritual unity is at the very heart of the Christian faith and the life of Christ’s church.  One body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism and one God and Father of all.
