Just A Thought: Change is Constant but so is Jesus

Change is Constant but so is Jesus.
Change is inevitable.  Change can also be difficult.  Actually, we don’t like it much. There is a comfortableness in sameness.  We are currently living in a time of unprecedented change.  So many things are changing that we hardly know what to do. Our family interactions, our work environments, and many of our routine tasks have been turned upside down.

I suspect that many of these changes will be permanent; that life as we have known it will have a major shift.  But we who are Christians have the blessed assurance that Jesus will not change.  He is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore.  Revelation 1:8 states: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”  We have the assurance that we can
stand on a sure foundation during these turbulent times.  Change is Constant but so is Jesus.

Although we may be perplexed, God is not.  We may feel somewhat uncomfortable as our comfort zones shake.  However, we can really appreciate that we serve a God on whom we can depend - because He changes not.  That is why we can remain optimistic and hopeful about life because the Holy Spirit consistently produces in us the same fruit of love, joy, peace, gentleness, kindness, meekness, goodness, longsuffering, and faith. (Galatians 5:22)

Change, of course, has its good and bad points.  I once heard someone say that something’s wrong when we haven’t changed in fifteen or twenty years.  I was thinking of the placement of two pastors recently Travis Maxey and Michael Saunders.  In order for them to experience the joy of serving as pastors – there had to be change that occurred in those churches.  I am sure that the changes were difficult.  But God
always has a plan.  So, as we reflect on all the changes that are occurring, let us continue to present our bodies living sacrifices, trusting in God who does not change to accomplish His long term and perfect plan for each of our lives.  We must be more determined than ever to wait on God.  We must constantly remind ourselves that God always knows the path we should take, and He always leads us in paths of
righteousness for His Namesake.  While we may want to second guess God’s directions, we must resist the temptation and continue to follow Christ because He will surely get us to our right destination.  Always remember the wisdom of Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."  Change is
Constant but so is Jesus.

The unchanging nature of God and His unchangeable Word are real things on which we can stake our life.  It is a rock big enough and strong enough for us to build a house on it, and an anchor big enough and strong enough to hold our souls in the midst of life’s waves and storms.  When everything in life seems flipped upside down, we can say with the psalmist, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be
moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.” (Psalm 46:1–3)

Things will continue to change - always remember Change is Constant but so is Jesus.
