Just A Thought: God's Word Our UNshakable Foundation

As you enter the sanctuary today you’ll see a significant change in the messaging. The banners in the front proclaim our theme for the year.

“GOD”S WORD OUR UNSHAKABLE FOUNDATION.”

I don’t know much that excites me more than the Word of God. Just having it in my hands does something to me – but hiding it in my heart does so much more.
We live in a complex and complicated world. It’s a world that is becoming more distant from the principles of scripture with each passing day. There are conflicting voices everywhere. This group says this – this group says that! Everyone’s spinning – spinning – spinning. So many differing values and opinions. Where do we turn? Where is truth? Some people are critical of everything – others complain about everything – still others embrace everything. The wise weigh all things by the Unchanging Unshakable Word of God.
Can I say, that people who are in love with God – I mean really in love with God - those who are into having an intimate relationship with Him – know that 30 minutes on Sunday morning is not enough to sustain them for a whole week As a child, I grew up in a church that valued the scriptures. We had charts on the wall for scriptural memorization. We challenged each other to “get into” His Word constantly. The sermons were biblically sound and edifying. To this day, I am able to recall those verses that we memorized. They have come to my mind at times when I needed them the most. They spoke either to my own life or the life of another that the Lord placed in my path. I have never regretted the time that was spent in God’s word.
especially when where are so many distractions and alternative messages that are being thrown at us constantly. Those who are serious about the Lord – know there needs to be a constant nourishment in the Word to meet the demands of this life.
So here’s what God’s Word did for me. Scripture pointed me to my savior - Jesus. Because of that EVERYTHING in my life changed. EVERYTHING! Somethings changed quickly – other things God is still changing – but one breath from God changed me! As I read or listen to God’s Word and spent time talking to Him in prayer, my spirit has become stronger than my flesh and it’s good. Really good! Isaiah 49:23 says, “Those who hope in me will not be disappointed.”
We are not about hype – show – being flashy - keeping up with the newest movement. We are about the gospel! We are about God’s Word. We are about God’s Word being our unshakable foundation. We have many opportunities that are biblically strong that will literally change your life. AWANA - Church School - Small Groups – Wednesday Bible Study – Echo – Thrive – Fuse - Prayer groups. As you grow in His Word you will not be disappointed!
