Just a Thought: Waiting....

Have you ever thought about waiting? We wait for a lot of things.
We wait for:
Christmas morning
the family to come over
the toast to pop up
the little plastic do-hickey on the turkey
an important phone call
healing
labor to be over and the child to be born
for death
the family to go home

I think we’re a lot more impatient than we used to be. We use someone else’s computer and it takes 45 seconds to boot up instead of 15 like our computer and we get angry at it. “Come’on come’on, get going already!” it’s not easy to wait.
I think it’s hardest of all to wait for God. You know what, I wish I had an easy answer to these things. But I don’t... As I look at the scriptures, I see the people of God longing for - straining for God to act in their behalf. However, I also see that while they waited they worked - they worshiped - performed acts of kindness. While they waited they defied the darkness by serving God. They did what they could and waited. Today, those of us who are in between His first coming and the second coming is this - to believe God will come to redeem his people. Until He comes - by His grace and power - we do what we can….and wait.
