Just A Thought: Wood Pallets

February 15, 2015 0 comments

For some unknown reason I have started to build things out of wood pallets. I have made quite a few things…the roof on our play structure and chicken coup, compost bin, desk, shelf, garden tool storage, kids picnic table and now I am working on building a new chicken coup. If you know me at all you know that it is funny to hear me say I have been building things out of wood…maybe because I cant read a ruler or maybe because I have like 5 tools! But I have really enjoy the time I get to make something and see it finished, and the fact that I use wood that is typically seen as worthless and unwanted be reclaimed and usable again is an added bonus.

All this wood working gets me thinking about Jesus…that is what He did when He was here (did He ever hit His thumb with a hammer? and if so, what did he say…). Anyway I continue to think about Philippians 1:6 that says…

"Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus”

To me, it is great to know that God is not done with me…He is constantly molding me and shaping me into the man He wants me to be! It can be a painful process at times but it is SO worth it! As you get older I think its easier to learn that you shouldn’t fight it, God knows what He is doing and knows what is best for us, we need to trust Him.

It’s also important to know that God does NOT see us as a wood pallet or worthless… The Bible says we are His MASTERPIECE!!! And we were created to do good works (Ephesians 2:10). He took the time to knit us together and plan our days…this is so awesome. The Creator of the heavens and earth took time to create you…this is mind blowing!

It’s crucial to remember that we are a work in progress AND the people we interact with and that frustrate us are also a work in progress. Grace is a must!
